Maglite Mag-Tac Rechargeable Flashlight Announcement
US Lighting manufacturer Maglite just announced a new addition to their popular line of MagTac tactical flashlights – the Maglite Mag Tac Rechargeable flashlight. Let’s get right into the performance specifications!
Maglite Mag-Tac Rechargeable Flashlight
Output: 450+ lumens high, 50+ lumens low
Run time: 1.5 hours high, 4.5 hours low
Battery type: Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) rechargeable battery
Bezel type: Choose flat or crowned (scalloped) bezel
MSRP: from $105-$120
Like the original CR123-powered Mag-Tac flashlight, the Mag Tac rechargeable will be available with two different body designs: one will come with a flat or plain bezel, and one will come with a crowned or scalloped bezel. The flat bezel MagTac LED will offer three output modes – momentary, high, and low. The crowned bezel MagTac will also offer three output modes – momentary, high, and strobe.
One of the most interesting things about the Mag-Tac rechargeable flashlight is the advanced battery technology. Instead of going with a traditional lithium-ion battery, Maglite decided to go with an innovative lithium iron phosphate battery. The advantage of the LiFePO4 battery is that it is safer to charge with less risk of fire or explosion, and it will have a very long lifetime (very slow loss of capacity) compared to typical lithium-ion or NiCad batteries.
The Maglite Mag Tac rechargeable flashlight will come with a charging dock, USB charging cord, and an AC and DC adapter plugs. The typical recharge time will be about 2 hours to fully recharge the battery. Like the original Mag-Tac, the Mag-Tac rechargeable will come with a large pocket clip as well.
